    About our Justin Trudeau news

Latest news on Justin Trudeau, a Canadian politician who served as the 23rd prime minister of Canada from 2015 to 2025.

Known for his progressive policies and charismatic presence on the global stage, Trudeau is a member of the Liberal Party. His tenure saw the legalisation of recreational marijuana, the implementation of a federal carbon tax, and the advancement of various social justice initiatives.

In response to a political crisis following Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland's resignation in December 2024, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on 6 January 2025 that he would resign as both prime minister and leader of the Liberal Party. Parliament was prorogued until 24 March, allowing time for a leadership contest. Trudeau remained leader until Mark Carney was chosen on 9 March, prime minister until Carney was sworn in on 14 March, and MP for Papineau until the dissolution of the 44th Canadian Parliament on 23 March.
