    Mississippi is considered a red state. In the federal government, Mississippi is represented by two U.S. Senators and four U.S. Representatives. Both Senators Cindy Hyde-Smith and Roger Wicker are Republican. Of the four Representatives, three are Republican and one is a Democrat. Mississippi also has a Republican governor, Tate Reeves, who was reelected in 2023. The state legislature is also controlled by the Republicans, who have majorities in both chambers.
